Katie Dobies is a working artist from New York State currently residing in Saratoga Springs. Katie studied business at Florida Southern College and Schenectady County Community College. Underwhelmed with life in a cubicle, she sought a career in aviation flying for Delta Airlines as a flight attendant for almost a decade. She emerged as a self-taught travel photographer, landing her into the exciting world of photojournalism and stock photography at Istock/Getty Images in 2014, where she now has library of 10,000 images.
Currently Katie is a regular photographer for Saratoga Living Magazine managed by Richard Perez-Feria. She also loves to shoot freelance social media photo branding because 'it is creative and it is helping people and businesses get noticed'. She also coaches photography to students.
Katie's notable work is visible worldwide, in public and private collections, and in print and digital media. Her "Twin Bridges" image awarded her the cover of Sunmark Federal Credit Union's 2016 Calendar and in 2019 one of her winter scenes was the January image. Prior to that Katie was spotlighted in a solo exhibition at The Happy Cappuccino, Schenectady, NY featuring her travel photography. Katie has received multiple recognitions for her prints in local art shows. Images from Katie's Istock collection grace the media from that just right book cover to a USA Today story to your your favorite websites. She says that sometimes she wouldn't even recognize her own work when it is used in a new context. She loves the creative collaboration that goes into editorial work.
